Section 2.2 Nervous System Organization
When you think about the organization of our nervous system, one of the best ways to picture it, is like a super highway system in a large city. The highway has a main entrance/destination (Brain) with a major road leading from it (Spinal Cord). Off of the main highway are several off-ramps and other smaller roads (Peripheral Nervous System). Ultimately, all of them lead back to the main destination (Brain) which has several buildings and homes (i.e. The different lobes of the brain).
Look at the complexity of the nervous system. It is a fundamental aspect of our being. It controls every part of us. From our most basic actions (reflexes) to more complicated actions (moving your eyes to read this text), the human nervous system is an integrated working machine that operates at a very quick pace.
