Section 12.3  Theories and Concepts of Emotion

With a basic understanding of motivation and how it influences us, the last part of the chapter looks at the role of emotions. As you could imagine, our emotions are a major influence on our motivations, and visa versa. Think about it, if you were feeling lethargic, sad, and exhausted, how motivated would you be to complete a major homework assignment? On the other hand, if you were playing in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, your emotional level would most likely be aligned with your motivational desire to win. First you will learn about the three main components of emotion; followed by the four major theories of emotion.
