One of the most interesting commercials I ever saw was one that showed a stadium (GM Place) full of people. Following this visual was an announcer who stated that this was the amount of people in Vancouver who suffered from schizophrenia. Not only does it inflict one percent of our population, but you may not even know that someone you work with has schizophrenia. There is probably no psychological disorder that is more well-known, yet misunderstood, than schizophrenia. The next section of this chapter looks to increase your understanding and dispel the myths behind this disorder.
