Chapter 16 Overview

Chapter Overview:

Social Psychology is the study of how others influence our thoughts, feelings, and actions. In 2004, the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in Iraq witnessed guards from the American military torture prisoners. Was this a foreseeable act on the part of American soldiers? Could it have been prevented? This chapter explores external social forces and the environment and how they influence our thoughts and actions. You will learn why prejudice and discrimination continue to exist in our world, while on the other hand, what is love and how we can counter negative thoughts and pressures.
